Therapeutic Meditation
Meditation, or "Mindfulness", is an emerging healing modality which has begun to be recognized by the medical community. The benefits of mindfulness includes reduced pain, decreased perceived stress and improvement of mental, emotional, physical and spiritual balance.
When a person is STRESSED, various hormones and stress behaviours occur. When we are able to relate our dis-"ease", or illnesses with how we react to them, be it positively or negatively, healing may occur and often does.
Some our perceived stress is believed to be based on current events, when in fact, our deepest fears stem from events which occurred between the ages of 2 and 5 years when we simply absorbed everything our parents told us, everything we saw. We no longer remember what we learned, yet those experiences become the actual foundation of our unconscious beliefs and especially our fears.
The practice of meditation offers an opportunity for the mind to open by focusing on the breath and a meditative grounding practice. We learn to let go of judgement beginning with ourselves. With guidance we are able to access deeper sources of information. Some refer to it as the unconscious; others refer to it as the Soul, still others, our "Highest Self."
Dr. Locas offers group-based courses in learning to meditate, and delving deeper into the realms of the Spirit where true healing can begin and real peace can be achieved.
